Fungus Foray

A three-mile guided fungus walk at Temple Newsam for families and beginners, meeting in the Stable Courtyard. £10 per person, booking essential. It crosses woodland, grassland and other habitats, and while reasonably accessible there are gradients and off-road stretches — ring 0113 336 7560 for advice if that might be a problem.

The walk aims to find examples of all the major genera of fungi, so you come away able to recognise the main kinds of mushroom, with an introduction to picking, collecting, identifying and what is safe to eat.
