Moth Morning

Saturday, 25 July 2026
8:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Temple Newsam Estate, Leeds, LS15 0AE
Butterfly Conservation / Leeds Wild Spaces Project

Join the Butterfly Conservation team to learn about moths and see the species that live at Temple Newsam.

As part of the Leeds Wild Spaces Project, Butterfly Conservation — in collaboration with Leeds City Council — has established a one-hectare wildflower meadow at Temple Newsam.

This session is all about moth trapping: a safe light and box are left out overnight to attract moths, which are viewed in the morning and then safely released back to the wild. You’ll hopefully see species you wouldn’t normally get the chance to, and learn about moths along the way.

The event runs early in the morning so the moths can be released before the day gets too warm, and it is weather dependent for the moths’ safety. Suitable for all ages and abilities.

The exact meeting point and further information will be emailed to you on the day of the event.

To book, use the access code WILDSPACES on the event page.
