Moth Morning

Join the Butterfly Conservation team to learn about moths and see the species that live at Temple Newsam. Suitable for all ages and abilities.

A safe light and box are left out overnight to attract moths, which are viewed in the morning and then safely released back to the wild. The event runs early in the morning so the moths can be released before the day gets too warm, and it is weather dependent for the moths’ safety. The exact meeting point and further information will be emailed to you on the day.

Part of the Leeds Wild Spaces Project, through which Butterfly Conservation — in collaboration with Leeds City Council — has established a one-hectare wildflower meadow at Temple Newsam.
