Not just any motorway service station — we’re based at Skelton Lake Services (M1 J45), one of the UK’s most environmentally friendly service stations. It’s greener than green and even features a rooftop bird hide, a must-visit for any birdwatcher before or after your run.

All facilities within the services are available to runners, making this one of the most convenient and accessible trail races in Yorkshire.

The Big Wild Play Out

A day of outdoor play for all the family! Playing out is good for you, so we’re inviting families to join us for a day of outdoor play. There will be free play in the woods, games, and the chance to try pond dipping and bug hunting. Our cafe will be open for drinks and snacks.

Get ready for a tail-wagging day out! Join us on Saturday 13th June as we team up with Leeds City College to bring you a our Paws in the Park dog show in the stunning grounds of Temple Newsam, Leeds.

Set on the field in front of the House (opposite the farm entrance), this fantastic event promises fun for the whole family. Our much-loved dog show, kicks off at 11am, but there’s plenty happening all day long!

Skelton Grange Open Day

Join us for our fun-filled Open Day on Saturday 5th September! Help us squeeze the last drops of sunshine out of the summer! Come along and play, explore the site, have a go at natural crafts. There will be craft activities for all ages, woodland play and outdoor games. The cafe will be open, selling homemade cakes and savoury treats, or enjoy a pizza from our wood-fired pizza oven. There will be vegan and gluten-free options available. Entry is free but we’d love you to enjoy a snack in our cafe, explore the site, or simply make a donation - all the funds raised will support the charitable work of The Conservation Volunteers at Skelton Grange Environment Centre.

This trail event begins right behind the services and heads into the scenic Rothwell Country Park, a beautiful blend of woodland, riverside paths, grass trail, and a touch of road. Expect one friendly undulation that rewards you with an incredible view of Leeds City Centre — it’s a highlight past runners rave about!

Whether you’re chasing a medal, a personal best, or just a day outdoors, the variety of terrain makes this one of our favourite courses. With multiple distances and a generous 6.5-hour cut-off, both walkers and runners are welcome.
